If you're reading this post any time Wednesday (6/24), our U18 team's players, coaches, and families are probably still on the road traveling to Barboursville, West Virginia to participate in the 2015 U.S. Youth Soccer Region 1 Championships. On our schedule are the #14 and #15 teams in the U.S.
Despite our lower registration costs and smaller footprint, our club still offers our players great opportunities to play against top-level talent. Not only is our U18 team representing Maine in the competition against some of the best teams and players on the east coast, but our two other teams this year came pretty close to qualifying for regionals themselves. Our U13 team narrowly lost a best-of-three series in their age group final, and our U16 team fell short qualifying for their age group's final on a goal-differential tie-breaker.
To be sure, our U18 team's expectations are tempered heading into this upcoming tournament. But we will undoubtedly return better players, better coaches, and a better club. And those are the reasons for our existence in the first place.
Oh, and if you want to track our U18 team's experience in West Virginia, follow our Twitter account: https://twitter.com/RoseveltSC. We'll be posting frequent updates of our players' on-field and off-field experiences using the hashtag #RosieWV.
